  • Andy’s Man Club

Free-to-attend support groups for men over 18 who are going through, have been through or are approaching storms in their lives.

  • Bereavement Drop-in Group

Bury Hospice invites you to their monthly Bereavement Drop-in Group at Radcliffe Library – a warm, welcoming space where you can connect with others who understand. Whether you want to talk, listen, or simply be around others, you’ll find comfort and companionship here.

Come along on the last Wednesday of each month, 5pm to 6.30pm at Radcliffe Library.

  • Digital Skills Courses

Bury Council are working with Bury Adult Learning, to bring you free six week Digital Skills courses over the coming months.

Beginners;

ASDA Radcliffe – Starting Thursday 23 April – 1pm to 3pm

Intermediate;

ASDA Radcliffe – Starting Thursday 4 June – 1pm to 3pm

  • Resident Support

Bury Council is offering free support and advice sessions at the Town Hall and Bury Libraries. Residents can get help with crisis support, council tax issues, housing benefits, housing rents, income maximisation, help to claim benefits including PIP and adult social care bills.

Drop-in sessions are held at:-

The Town Hall – Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm

Prestwich Library – Monday to Friday from 10am to 4.30pm

Ramsbottom Library – Wednesdays 10am to 1pm

 

  • Citizens Advice Appointments

Whoever you are, whatever your problem – Citizens Advice can help you with free, impartial advice about welfare and benefits, work, debt and money, consumer and energy issues, housing, family, law and courts, immigration and health costs and services.

Alan Fitzpatrick, the Neighbourhood Engagement Officer at Citizens Advice Bury & Bolton, will be providing advice sessions from our libraries in Prestwich and Bury:

  • Prestwich Library: 3rd Tuesday of the month between 10.00am – 12.00pm starting from Tuesday 17 September
  • Bury Library: Fortnightly on Thursdays between 3.30pm – 6pm starting from Thursday 26 September 2024

This Van Can… help you get Cancer Clever

graphic which says The latest “This Van Can” mobile roadshow is currently travelling across all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. On board, specially trained staff will be available for free, friendly conversations about spotting the early signs of cancer.

Could you spot the signs?

The earlier cancer is found, the easier it is to treat. The NHS wants everyone to know the key symptoms to look out for, including:

  • A lump or swelling anywhere on the body
  • A cough or breathlessness lasting more than three weeks
  • Unexplained bleeding (in pee, poo, or between periods)
  • Heartburn that lasts for three weeks or more
  • Unexplained tiredness, pain, loss of appetite, or weight loss
